I I have encountered countless damselflies in my life, simply because of growing up the James River every spring and summer. Whether I was swimming, lazily slipping down the tube, or jumping into the canals, the dragons always flew into view. For with her there was nothing out of the ordinary for me. After all, dragons are known to hang out around bodies of water like rivers, ponds and lakes, especially during the summer months. Others, however, did not find the flying animal beautiful (and predatory) and, as such, were curious to discover the underlying meaning of the dragon.
To help shed some light on the insects of the afternoon, we chatted with celebrity psychic and mystical expert, Inbaal Honigman, about the meaning of the dragon. Read on to discover what he had to say.
One might think that the meaning of the dragon is ominous because of the insect’s predatory nature (as adults, they eat other insects and are very skilled at hunting their meals). According to Honigman, though, damselflies note the positive side of change.
“For a very thin creature, with almost transparent feathers, lightness defines a dragon,” says Honigman. “It is to them a kind of other earthly, almost illusory, are they here at all? I strike, and I seek thee.’
With this in mind, it can be assumed that the dragonfly was seen as a reminder to use the opportunities that arise, that you never know how long they will be around as the world (and your place in it) transforms. In the same vein, Honigman says that dragons represent hope, new beginnings, powers, and luck, and that they are a wonderful reminder to live for the last day. “It’s very important,” he said. You never know when it will pass.
That’s from Dragonfly to you
Now, if you look directly at the dragon’s lands, it is even more noticeable that it is not a brief passing reminder that it is more present, but that it is directly in front of you. But if you are around damselflies, be aware that they can bite. While their bite is not considered dangerous and often does not break the skin, they can sting (I speak from experience. That said, it can also represent a dragon bite. It could represent a “fear of change,” says Honigman. “Just as damselflies represent transformation, the bite could be your journey with an idea to change your life.”
Meaning of Spotting Dragonflies in Unison
It is not uncommon to see ladybugs flying, when you are a type of insect known as scavengers (that is: they fly to be preyed upon by other insects). While the phenomenon is completely natural, the evidence is significant, Hongman says. “Seeing a dragon test increases the significance of one dragon,” he explains. “The spiritual sense of his transformation, and what he does most is multiplied, and therefore the message is brought forth more.”
Repeat appearances of Dragonfly
If you’re not directly in the water, or especially close to the water, but you see dragonflies, Honigman says the message is to come through high and clear in an effort to reach out. “If you see dragonflies again and again, this may be the call to change your life, transform yourself,” he said. “The more you ignore the message, the more it will appear. If you see an unusual rate of damselflies, you have ignored the instructions for a while, sit and think – where should the change be made? What transformation can you create for yourself to benefit your life?
